Which coins MintPriced can identify
This page explains, honestly, what the MintPriced app can and cannot do, so you know what to expect before you install it.
What the app reads
- Country, denomination, year, mint mark and metal, from a photo you take or pick from your gallery.
- When the date or mint mark is hard to read, the app asks for a close-up instead of guessing. You confirm the year and mint mark before saving.
- An estimated Circulated or Uncirculated value range, when we have data for that coin. Some coins show “needs an expert check” instead of a number.
Accuracy
Accuracy depends on the quality of the photo and the condition of the coin. A sharp photo of one coin in good light, with the date readable, gives the app the most to work with. See how to photograph coins. For background on US designs, see the US coin series overview.
What the app does not do
- It does not tell you whether a coin is genuine. A photo cannot prove that; see what a photo can and cannot tell you.
- It does not certify varieties or mint errors (see error coins).
Collections
You can track US series and see which dates are missing. Free and Pro limits and pricing are on the home page.
Language and devices
The app is in English and available for Android phones on Google Play. An iPhone version is not available yet.
